Velvet the HERO!

I just wanted to take a moment to congratulate my black labrador "sister" Velvet for saving the mount hood climbers! Here is a quote from one of the rescue team members:

"The dog probably saved their lives" by lying across them during the cold night, said Erik Brom, a member of the Portland Mountain Rescue team.

The other good news is that she only had minor cuts and abrasions on her back paws and legs from being in the snow too long but she will be fine!

I wonder if I could be as brave and resourceful as Velvet? I might be curious about what kind of critters I could find around there to eat and go wandering off only to find myself lost from the campsite. But maybe if it were that cold I would want to snuggle with everyone for warmth...

YAY Velvet. My newest hero!

miss madeline, weren't you emulating velvet when you visited with candy this weekend? i have totally confidence that you would act with extreme grace under pressure. especially if the injured humans promised a kong reward if they survived.
