Velvet the HERO!

I just wanted to take a moment to congratulate my black labrador "sister" Velvet for saving the mount hood climbers! Here is a quote from one of the rescue team members:

"The dog probably saved their lives" by lying across them during the cold night, said Erik Brom, a member of the Portland Mountain Rescue team.

The other good news is that she only had minor cuts and abrasions on her back paws and legs from being in the snow too long but she will be fine!

I wonder if I could be as brave and resourceful as Velvet? I might be curious about what kind of critters I could find around there to eat and go wandering off only to find myself lost from the campsite. But maybe if it were that cold I would want to snuggle with everyone for warmth...

YAY Velvet. My newest hero!

A visit from Candy

Hello folks!

First let me say that my bite is completely healed and the hair has almost grown back. Yippee! Thanks for all the calls and emails of concern.

Next - Im happy to report that we have a visitor this past weekend - CANDY!! She came to stay with us Friday-Sunday. I was so excited to see her that I kept jumping up on her and I dont think she liked that very much. So I tried to make it up to her by snuggling up with her in her bed on Friday night. I know she gets cold so I wanted to keep her warm with all my fur. At one point she even covered me up with the covers!

I wish it were warmer outside so they would have taken me out to the dog park because I think Candy would have liked seeing me as queen of the castle dominating all the other dogs.

Candy has 3 pugs. I wish I could meet them. I always enjoy encounters with pugs because although they are small dogs, they are not afraid of big dogs and like to say hello and play. One pug in my neighborhood - Buddy - like to prop his front paws on my shoulders and lick my face. Its pretty cute if I do say so myself.

After Candy left on Sunday, Miri took me to the dog park for a good romp. I humped this Mastif that was twice my size! He was cool. Also there was this super nasty dog there that tried to attack a small dog and I intervened to protect the little dog by getting in between the big and little one! Lets face it folks - I am the queen of the dog park.

Lastly, Jennifer came over on Thursday night to watch gray's anatomy with us. She is one of my favorite humans. We get along very well. She is so loving to me and seems to really "get" me.
