My first shower

Sometimes I do the weirdest things. Im not even sure why I do them. On our walk today, we stoppped at dupont park and I saw this wet spot on the ground. I sniffed it and it smelled really disgusting. So I decided it would be a good idea to rub my body all over it. Not sure why I did that but it seemed like a great idea at the time. I rubbed both my sides on it and then, I got on my back and rolled around in it. It was awesome. Then I got up and Miri sniffed me and was not happy. We marched to the nearest hose and she proceeded to hose me down. But the smell was still there! So we went home and Miri got me into the shower! Yes. We were in there together. She scrubbed me down really well. It was pretty fun. I've had baths before but this shower thing was cool. Then I got out and ran all over the place like a crazy woman. It was exhilarating!

Grover Dog? You Decide

Doesn't this dog look eerily like Grover from Sesame Street? He was pictured in today's Only Natural Pet Store email newsletter in an article about Intestinal Worms & Heartworm. This reminds me of Joey Tribiani's (of Friends fame) bad decision to model in an ad for billboards about venereal disease. Girls avoided Joey everywhere for fear of his VD! Is poor Grover Dog headed for the same fate?

My Theory About Greyhounds

I'm feeling a little downtrodden right now because I think Miri is a bit annoyed with me. Let me give you a quick recap. We went on our walk and on the way back we stopped at my fave park in dupont. There was a girl playing with her dog and they had this FABULOUS plush rainbow colored ball with a squeaker in it! The girl was trying to be nice and share it with me. However, she had no knowledge of my penchant for plush toys. Miri and Tom stopped buying them after I tore one apart and tried to eat it the last time. Well she threw the beautiful object up in the air and I caught it and held on for dear life knowing that Miri would try to take it away. I carried it all the way home anxious to tear it apart when Miri left. Little did i know she would get Tom trick me into dropping it for a treat. Treats are my weakness really. To be honest, I cannot resist any food. I'd probably eat myself sick if I could. So I think Miri is annoyed because I would not drop that ball the whole walk home. I didnt want to be difficult but I REALLY wanted that ball.

OK on to my theory about Greyhounds. Now I must warn you that this is kind of controversial. My apologies to the Greyhounds of the world and their moms/dads. I think the Greyhounds are anorexic. They are SO thin! Don't get me wrong, they are beautiful but I think a little TOO beautiful to be honest with you. You know I don't like competition. And I mean who is THAT skinny? Have you ever seen one eat anything? Or try to grab any scraps off the ground? I am pretty slender myself and next to them I look like a little pig. It really cramps my style. We saw a pair of them today and Miri wanted me to stop and say hi but I did not want to be seen next to them fearing one my suitors would pass by and think I've gained some weight. The Greyhound is the Kate Moss of the dog world.

What's in a name?

Today's walk with Miri was AWESOME. We went to my fave park in Dupont. There wasn't much action there though. So we moved on to the other park on Columbia and 19th. I love going there because its a longer walk AND there are usually lots of dogs along the way. Or I should say, lots of my admirers. Did I mention that everyone loves me? Anyway, we saw Logan on the way. He is very attractive. He kind of looks like me but has the high ears. However, he is very big on PDA (public display of affection) which is frankly a little embarrassing. I'm not talking about humping (I mentioned earlier that I this is one of my fave activities and I do it out in the open unabashedly). I'm talking about this jumping all over the place, sniffing me, sticking his head under my body, etc. I kind of like it but I played hard to get and acted very standoffish and demure. A girl must maintain some semblance of mystery.

I also met a new dog today. His name is Pesky. Yes, you heard me. Pesky. Can I ask you WHAT KIND OF NAME IS THAT? Humans, please. Do not do this to your fellow canine companions. We need dignified names. Or at least cute ones. Pesky is so derogative it kills me. And the boy was really adorable - blue eyes and a white and beige coat. Very sweet too. I think he had the hots for me. But then again who doesn't?

Lastly, I managed to get a piece of a stale hamburger bun from the sidewalk! S-C-O-R-E! I saw it on our way to the park and Miri was able to yank me away from it before I got my mouth on it. She's getting quicker and frankly its making me nervous. But what she forgot, is that I have an impeccable memory. And I am very good at distracting her by doing my bob and weave act. As we approached the delicious treat, I pounced on it before she could remember it was there. I only got a bite or two because she yanked me away when I dropped it, but it was dee-lish!

Glamour shot

Spotted Tongues Rule

Well, i guess i'm famous now. I have my very own blog. Something fun to do during the day when my mom and dad are at the office. While I'm at it on this here computer, I'll have to do some research about this spotted tongue of mine. People ask my mom and dad about it all the time. "Is she part chow?" I'm not so sure about that. Not that there is anything wrong with chows but im a labrador at heart. Maybe dalmatian? Maybe some sort of odd pigmentation from being a black lab. All I know is that its pretty awesome and unique if I say so myself. I also think my little white hairs here and there are attractive - especially the one above my eyebrow. And the ones in my tail.

There are a few other things you might like to know about me:
  1. I'm beautiful. I know that may sound pretentious but its true and to prove it to you, ask Miri or Tom. They tell me I am pretty all the time so it must be true.
  2. I love peanut butter.
  3. My passion is squirrels.
  4. I love the squeaker ball.
  5. I have some of what you humans call "issues." I attribute these issues to my past life which I think I've repressed either because its too terrible to remember or because I'm super sad that the previous humans didn't want me. I mean, who wouldnt want me?
  6. Issues include anxiety outside resulting in my howling and screaming very loudly. I calm down in about 10 minutes but I just can't contain myself when i first get out there. I bark at people sometimes too. But only when they make me nervous.
  7. Miri and Tom are my mom and dad (THE best humans I know!)
  8. I like moving very fast when i'm on my walks which results in pulling miri and tom behind me. I can't help it that they are slow! Look for future posts related to this "issue" of mine.
  9. I love running. I also love swimming but i dont get to do that as often.
  10. I love to hump. Miri says its one of my "issues" related to dominance. This is partly true because I am pretty bossy but mostly its because i'm a secret slut. Can you blame me?
