A-L-M-O-S-T

Quick post to say that I ALMOST got to eat a dead bird today. I was so close but Miri was too quick. I was trotting along in the dog park having a fun old time. I smelled the sweet aroma of a dead animal in the bushes. I started digging and stuck my head in there and came out with the delicious treat in my mouth. However, I had to put it down for further inspection and that's when Miri grabbed me by the harness! My dreams turned to dust right before my eyes.

However, on the bright side, I did get a few good humps in with Roscoe.

Photo Note: I dragged this photo out of my archives. This was taken a day or so after Miri and Tom adopted me!

Snoozeville

All this rain makes me so sleepy! Maybe its because I get so stressed out (as you humans say) by the thunder and then when it stops, I crash. When it thunders I start to cry and I either squeeze myself under the bed, go stand in the bathroom, or I did this new thing that seemed to calm me down where I go into the corner and i put my head down really low near the ground and lean the top of my head against the wall. Maybe I can get Tom or Miri to take a photo next time I do it so you can see.

In any case, Tom took this photo of me while I was snoozing and I figured you would like it. I look pretty cute in it if I do say so myself. I especially thought my new fans from London Marathon Mum, Thing One, and Thing Two would love this one. Maybe they will post it on their family board at home :)

zzzzzzzz....

Important Alert: Cocoa Mulch Deadly For Dogs and Cats

I believe that an internationally famous pup has responsibilities to her public. Therefore I must alert you to something I found out from one of my very reliable sources, Ms. Candice Stern (mother of Cassie, Roscoe and Chewy).

Cocoa Mulch, manufactured by Hershey's, is a new product being used in residential (and possibly commercial) gardens. It contains a lethal ingredient to dogs and cats called Theobromine. Apprently it smells like chocolate and it really attracts dogs. I'm salivating just thinking about it! I could definitely see myself eating this delicious smelling toxic treat!

Several deaths already occurred in the last 2-3 weeks! Apparently the mulch has NO warnings printed on the label but upon further investigation on the company's website, this product is HIGHLY toxic to dogs. Hershey's says "It is true that studies have shown that 50% of the dogs that eat Cocoa Mulch can suffer physical harm to a variety of degrees (depending on each individual dog). However, 98% of all dogs won't eat it."

Yeah right! I'm sure I would chow down on that stuff. And when you think about it, how many people have you heard tell a story about their dog eating a plate of brownies and being rushed to the vet! If Miri and Tom left any chocolate around our place you know I'd devour it! I'm beautiful but not all that bright...

Please email the manufacturer at michellemessick@hersheys.com and request that accurate information about this product be posted on the packaging to avoid further tragedy!

Internationally Famous!

Hello Dear Fans.

Apologies for my blog absence. I was on holiday! Well, to be totally honest, Miri and Tom were on holiday and they turned off the computer while they were gone. Yes, I do know how to type but I dont know how to turn this thing on! Anyway, while they were on holiday I enjoyed a fun time with my pet sitter Jake. He is THE BEST!

Also notice this photo of me in one of Miri's necklaces. While the cats are away, the mice will play, if you will... I love playing dress up.

However, the exciting news that I have for today is that while I was on my mini-break I got a facinating comment! I have fans in London! See below for ab fab posting from Marathon Mum and her family!

It's Official - I am both witty and talented

I just have to share two quotes. One is from Tom and Miri's friend Sinead about my blog:

" i have to say that madeline's blog is pretty goddamned funny ..... my blog-writing friends are pretty WITTY writers .. no doubt .. but i dunno if they have the same opportunity to write about eating a dead squirrel and how funny it is that miri had the help of strangers trying to wrest the squirrel from madeline's mouth .. or how noteworthy it is that madeline didn't hump someone ..."

And this one is from my secret admirer
KQ's blog:

"i am fairly sure that by this time tomorrow, i will have developed some pictures of me treating my favorite black lab mix, madeline. and let me just type: she is so flipping well trained. i tried that stay stay stay down down down business with jasmine this p.m. upon my return home and we didn't even make it to stay stay. madeline rules the indoor world of dogs."

Enough said.

Although you, my devoted readers, know all this already.
Tail wags to you all.

Signed, your devoted lab

Happy Harness Helper!

Behold! The Happy Harness Helper! This thing is awesome. FYI - there was a photo of me in the harness but Tom was holding me up in a really weird way and I looked awful. I cannot have my fans see me like that so I MADE Miri delete it.

Anyway, back to business. Thanks to Jennifer, my underarms are now back to normal. My harness was really rubbing them pretty badly because I pull like a maniac on the leash (especially when I see squirrels). They were red and even a little bloody sometimes -- sorry if you're squeamish. Anyway, Miri had this idea to cover the part of the harness that goes under my arms but she had no idea how to do it. Pretty girl but not very bright. Shhhh... don't tell her I said that. So, her friend Jennifer is quite the wizard on that sewing machine and she made a tailor made thing for me! We call it the Happy Harness Helper. Jennifer is taking orders if anyone else wants one. She will make any color or pattern! We love Jennifer. See my previous post entitled "Visit From Jennifer" to see a photo of this lovely lady.

OK I'm off to play with my squeaker ball.

XOXO

Romp with Roscoe

Just a quick post to say that I had THE BEST wrestling session with Roscoe this morning. It was so great. He even humped my head! And there were two babies there in a stroller watching us. They loved it! They laughed and laughed.

OK more later... I need a nap after all that wrestling.

Sleeping Beauties

I had a fun walk this morning! But I think I really tired Miri out, because when we got home, she collapsed on the bed and slept for a few hours. I of course was ready to pose for this photo. For once, I was awake and Miri was asleep!

Tom went to work, and once Miri woke up, she left for the day and I had the whole condo to myself! Sometimes I need a little break from the humans.

Adams Morgan Baby!

Just a quick post to say that I love the Adams Morgan dog park. Tom and Miri took me there today and it was super fun! There were lots of dogs and I ran around and had a great time. Surprisingly I didn't do any humping. I did a sort of half hump on this one guy but then I stopped mid-hump because I wasn't really in the mood if you know what I mean. Also there weren't any hot guys there. I mean, of course there were some that were hot for ME, but I didn't feel the same.

I love it when Tom and Miri take me places together. I know I can be a pain outside but I try to behave. Actually, who am I kidding? I don't try to behave at all but I felt like I had to put on a good show and say I TRY because I know Miri and Tom read this.

Whew! I am REALLY tired after all that walking. I guess its because I pull like a maniac and end up panting really hard the whole way there. Also, its a bit of hike to get there but so worth it. Unfortunately we didn't stop into Doggie Style Bakery on our way back because of my aforementioned gastric troubles. I wanted to try one of those Mutt Licks but Miri said no, not yet. Maybe in a few days when my tummy subsides.

OK I gotta get back to my nap!

It's the weekend!

I'm glad I made it to the weekend - Miri and Tom have more time to play. Miri played with me this morning with my favorite squeaker ball - fun fun fun! Life is pretty good, although I do have a bit of diarrhea, I'm embarassed to say. I'm not sure where I got it from - maybe from gnawing on that big meat bone the other night that I found in the bushes. I loved that bone! I would not let it go. I think Miri and Tom were angry with me - Tom was even using some weird tool to pry it out of my mouth! (I think they called it pliers???) Anyhow, it's a gray and rainy day and I'm looking forward to more fun and plenty of naps. I'm such a diva dog. Maybe I'll get a chance to find another one of those bones...

Snazzy

I have no excuse except laziness for my lack of posts. The weather has really slowed me down! Its so hot. I almost forgot how fast I have to pant in the heat to cool off.

Anyway, last weekend Tom and Miri went to St. Michael's and they bought me this really cool Bee Collar! Its my summer outfit. Don't I look bee-utiful in it? OK, I know, that was kind of corny.

Here's another photo of me sleeping with it on. OK, the truth is, I'm not really sleeping but I'm pretending for the photo. I'm a fabulous actress.
