Squirrel Episode and More

Last night was kind of crazy. Miri and I went out for an evening walk because Tom was working. The walk was going pretty well UNTIL .... I found a dead squirrel on the street! Miri looked away for one second and pounce! I had that thing and I would not give it up. Even strangers were trying to help Miri get it away but I was not budging. Slurp!

Well, Miri called the vet because I guess I could get sick from this tasty treat. Who knew? Anyway, Im not sure what happened on that call because I only heard her side of the call but after she hung up, she was determined to get home. We walked faster than ever and she had me on the shortest leash ever. I had maybe a foot of leash. She was definitely pissed. Oops.

Then we got home but she didnt take my leash off. She got this brown bottle of stuff and a little cup. We went out back and she poured a little bit of this clear liquid in the cup. I thought it was water so I drank it. Unbeknownst to me, it was hydrogen peroxide. Not sure if you are aware of this but you can induce vomiting in dogs by using hydrogen peroxide! However, please consult your vet before doing anything like this yourself.

Well, as you can imagine, out went the squirrel! I won't go into details for the faint of heart.

I guess I felt better afterwards too because I wagged my tail after I did it.

Crazy huh? I think Miri is still kind of rattled from the whole experience. I don't blame her. First a bird and then the squirrel. I'm so bad. I'm lucky she thinks I'm so cute.

OH - AND I think I found out who my SECRET ADMIRER IS!!! Her initials are KQ!!

I ate a bird

OK, the secret admirer is way cool BUT today, I ate a bird which pretty much tops that. Only a squirrel would be better. Miri kind of ruined it a little bit because she cried. I guess she felt bad for the bird. Whatever. Get over it.

And for all of you hypocrite humans that say "how horrible - what about bird flu?" I say, "bird flu, shmird flu." What about all your fancy chicken ceasar salad? No bird flu risk? Steak anyone? Can you say mad cow disease? Salmon fillet -- HELLO Mercury poisoning. Cigarette anyone? Lung cancer? Martini? What about your liver?! I think I've made my point.

I'm an animal and proud of it! Domesticated? Maybe... But sometimes I forget.

chomp chomp!

Secret Admirer - Reveal Yourself!

THIS IS PROBABLY MY MOST EXCITING ENTRY YET! I have a secret admirer. I just got a package today from someone named A.D.Mirer from Baltimore, Maryland. I have no idea who it could be! I mean I have lots of admirers around the neighborhood but no one that has actually sent me something! Here is the outside of the package and the note that was inside.

And then inside was a gift! A big pink bone. I love it. Here are a few photos of me playing with it.

If you have any details regarding this admirer please post a comment to my blog. Perhaps you recognize the address on the box or the handwriting on the card. Or maybe you saw this pink bone before? Perhaps its you!

I am very curious about you A.D.Mirer! Reveal yourself!

Rainy Days and Mondays

A few things:
  • I found out Roscoe is a mutt which is why I couldn't figure out his breed (see previous Roscoe post below)
  • It rained so hard on my morning walk today. It put me in a lethargic mood.
  • I HATE to sit on wet pavement. I do this "fake sit" where I squat half way down so I can show Miri I'm not ignoring her but not get my butt wet.

Doga!

Yesterday was super fun! Miri and Tom took me to this fun event called DOGA at Rose Park. Let me explain. Miri does this thing called yoga where she contorts her body in all different poses. I am not sure what all these poses are but I recognize a few of them because I do them myself. The two I know are called Down Dog and Up Dog. In my opinion they are the best poses because they have the word Dog in them AND I can do them. Actually, I believe I've perfected them. There's Miri and me on her yoga mat! Miri did yoga while Tom and I walked around the park. Tom is so fun!

So, Miri does this yoga thing at a really hip studio called Tranquil Space. The hip tranquil chick that started the studio is named Kimberly Wilson. There she is in the picture with the pigtails. Isn't she pretty? Lucky for me, Kimberly loves dogs! Actually, she has a pretty awesome pooch named Louis - he's the black pug with Kimberly in the picture.. See Louis's blog in my fave links! Anyway, I digress. Kimberly supports charities like the Washington Humane Society as a way to give back to the community and spread yoga all over the world! SO, Doga was an event that combined yoga and dogs. The humans donated $$ to the Humane Society and did yoga while the doggies got to frolic and also eat yummy treats from my fave store Doggie Style Bakery. I got THREE big dog treats too. I stole one of them from this lady though. I guess that wasnt very polite but I couldnt help it. She was walking with her arm hanging by her side and the treat was RIGHT there in front of my snout. I had to take it. You know you would have done the same.

Here's a photo of the three of us. Miri is giving me one of the treats.

Here's one more of the group doing a pose called Baddha Konasana. More importantly - there's me right behind Miri - you can't really see my face but you can see my sexy legs!

You, Me, and Everyone We Know

I saw so many of my friends on the morning walk. I felt extra popular today! Here's the walk in review:

  • First stop, Dupont Dog park. No one there so we kept moving.
  • Next stop. 18th and Columbia. Stopped to play with a few pups and then moved on where we saw Miri's friend Sarah and MY friend Bella, the rockin' German Shepard!
  • Then we went back to Dupont and saw Skittles, Roscoe AND Emily. Skittles is a hairless dog. Very adorable. He looks very much like this photo I've posted. I think Skittles might have crush on me. But who doesn't?
  • I talked about Roscoe before so I wont repeat myself but I will say I got some good humps in.
  • Emily is a chocolate lab. Not half as beautiful as I am but she is fun. Her dad always throws balls for her with this cool launching stick thing and I try to get the balls before Emily does. I secretly revel in the fact that I'm much faster than Emily.
  • THEN we saw Tom riding to work on his bike!
More later folks! I'm off for some beauty rest.

Visit from Jennifer!

Last night one of my favorite friends visited me - JENNIFER! I love when she comes over. I like to sit in her lap. She and I are a lot alike actually. We are both beautiful, smart, and bossy. She actually is a lot smarter than me but I'm probably more bossy. Anyway, Jennifer is going to help fix my harness so it stops giving me a rash. She ROCKS!

My New Friend Roscoe

This will be a quick one. I just had to update you all about my new friend Roscoe. Not to be confused with my pug friend Roscoe, of "Cassie, Chewy and Roscoe" fame . That Roscoe will always be number one in my book even though we haven't met in person. I just know we'd get along. Speaking of Chewy, I heard he's been puking a bit. Shame! I hope he feels better soon.

Anyway, my new friend Roscoe is an adorable hound that I met at the dupont park on S and 17th. This photo looks sort of like him but not exactly. He doesnt have those long ears like this cutie in the picture. However, his coloring is exactly like this pup. I can't figure out Roscoe's exact breed. However, the point of my story is that he and I had a great time today playing. We were really going at it up on our hind legs and all. I humped him A LOT too. I let him hump me a few times just to keep him interested so I could hump him more. He is really fun. I hope we see him again tomorrow. Then I can also find out his breed and then I will post an updated photo.

PS - I've been eating grass lately. Not sure why but it tastes good. Maybe I wish I were a cow?
PPS - Here's a photo of Cassie, Roscoe and Chewy with Miri. Miri doesn't look so hot in this picture but aren't they cute? I believe that's Chewy on her lap, Roscoe right next to her leg and Cassie all the way to the left. To be honest with you, this picture makes me a little jealous because I like to have Miri to myself.

Roosevelt Island Adventure

I know you aren't going to believe me when I tell you this, but its true! I almost got TWO ducks on Saturday! Tom and Miri took me to Roosevelt Island and let me swim in the Potomac! I LOVE to swim and hardly get the chance. Unfortunately Miri and Tom get really nervous when I swim because I do like to go really far out! I wish they would trust me more. Of course I would come back - they are my food and shelter and I love them. But first things first.

I wanted those ducks! Man - I was SO CLOSE! I swam after them and got within feet of them. But Miri and Tom kept calling my name. Then their friend Mark came by in a kayak and chased me onto shore! I was a little annoyed by that but I guess they were nervous about my being out so far. I can't help it that I'm determined. And, to show my affection for them, I would have loved to bring one of those ducks back as a gift! Better luck next time I guess.

One of my best tricks

I've been kind of busy these last few days so I apologize for my absence on my blog. I know you, my fans, miss me. I owe it to you to be more consistent. I promise I'll try to be better. I just have a very busy schedule.

Here's a great photo of me playing one of my favorite games with Tom. I can stand on my hind legs and jump very high! Is there anything I can't do?

Eating in Bed

PS - Here's a shot of me from yesterday, in all of my bark day glory, eating my hickory smoked treat in bed! My oh-so-stylish bed I might add. But honestly, would you expect anything less considering how chic I am?

Bark Day Hangover

Sorry for this late post tonight. As you can see, I'm a little hung over from all the bark day celebrations yesterday. Tom and Miri gave me a cool hickory smoked bone thing that was deelish. I also went to the vet and they gave me treats there too! More later. I need to go hydrate.

My Bark Day!

Today is my bark day. Meaning, its the day Tom and Miri adopted me AND my birthday. It's not my actual birthday but since my previous people dropped me off at the shelter with no information, we have no way of knowing my real one. To be honest, I prefer this new birthday because it represents my new life! I have no recollection of my previous life but it must not have been as fun if they didn't want me. Right?
I hope at least one of my many admirers sends me a bouquet of bones today. I already got 2 peanut butter treats from Miri!

I heard i'm going to the vet later for these things called "shots." I wonder what those are?! Maybe more treats?
