My name is Madeline. Metropolitan labrador extraordinaire. I live in the hip Dupont/Logan neighborhood in Washington DC. I was adopted about a year ago and I've been loving life ever since. I hope you enjoy reading about life from my perspective.

Living in the now

I am just typing that kelly quinn cannot keep her hands off my soft fur. I think she has a girl crush on me. And I must admit, the feeling is mutual.

This morning Tom took me over to flow yoga studio to await kelly and miri coming out of class this morning. It was almost too much for me to see both of them at once while I was outside. Because you know that when i'm outside I get overly excited anyway. And then I wasnt expecting to see them since I had no idea where I was and who I was waiting for. A dog's life is all about the now. We have no clue was will happen at any given moment. There is no word for future in dog language. It makes for a very satisfying life. Living in the now. Very yogic if I do say so myself.

Odds and Ends

I haven't written in a while because lately no one single event has been "blog-worthy." And by that I mean, interesting or funny enough for my dear readers. I must make sure you are entertained. But, I also realize you might miss me. So I figure if I combine a bunch of little things, maybe it makes for an "average" read.

1) My dog walker/pet sitter just got new teeth! You might be asking yourself, where are his "old" teeth? Well, I'm not sure. I don't want to pry into his past and he hasn't volunteered the information. I think its a sensitive topic. I thought maybe he would start talking about it on one of our walks or maybe late night pet sitting when we are on the bed in our PJs with hot chocolate and liver treats but not yet. I'll keep you posted.

2) One of my fave humans Jennifer came over on Sunday. I even laid my head down on her leg. I never do this with anyone but to be honest, she captivates me. (P.S. This photo is a good shot of the Happy Harness Helper that Jennifer made for me since it was rubbing my underarms. It works wonders. She is making me a new one since this one is falling apart due to my hyperactivity outdoors.)

3) Saturday morning we went to NOT ONE but TWO dog parks. Adams Morgan AND Dupont. I played with a fun young dog at AM and then at Dupont I played with this lab mix named Bugaboo (I know what you are thinking but don't go there because I really like him and I won't make fun of his name. It would be too easy anyway). We played tug-of-war with a frisbee. I'm a little bit in love with him because he looks like me if I were 2 times larger. How can I not be into him? Its a male Madeline. And I am just typing that I think he is pretty into me too because he was wagging his tail a lot when he played with me. Not hard to believe considering...

infidelity

It has taken me a while to write a posting because I had to calm myself down first. I didn't want to type anything that I would regret saying later. Also, I had another bout of intestinal distress so I wasn't quite in the mood for writing. Anyway, let me back up a bit. Wednesday, the humans went on yet another vacation and left me with the pet sitter. Don't get me wrong, I love the guy, but he's not them. You know? I just love those two kids. But it was nice to have Jake around too. They got back late Sunday night and they came equipped with GREENIES! I knew something was fishy because I haven't had those in a while. Apparently there was some article out there in human news land about the danger of dogs choking on them if they don't chew them up well enough. But I am a damn good chewer so its not dangerous for me. Anyway, Miri was freaked so no greenies. Well, here they were. 2 bags no less! I sensed I was there was some sucking up being done to me. Also, I smelled a scent of another dog on both of them. So, I snooped into the digital camera and found THESE!

They cheated on me! I feel so betrayed. Look at Miri's face - she has a look on her face that I thought she only reserved for me. And Tom looks like he is enjoying himself walking the dog with all that slack in the leash. I guess this dog is easier to walk because he doesn't pull. Wimp!

Carol emailed and asked for me to talk more about Miri and Tom's escapades. Well Carol, here they are! In all their glory. Betraying me!

But in the grand scheme of things I guess I don't care that much. I got to hang out with Jake, got a greenie, and they came back to me, their true love.

Happy Hour and Kelly

A quick post to say that I had an awesome time last night. We had happy hour at the house. A few of my favorite humans came by including miss sinead, barb and mike, our neighbor trey AND my #1 fan and secret admirer - KELLY! The weird coincidence was that Kelly sent me a letter complete with a cherry flavored treat inside (see letter above) a while back but by accident she put Trey's address on it and he was very confused about who this Madeline was that was receiving mail at his place. I'm actually surprised considering i'm the queen of this whole condo building but maybe Trey is jealous of my popularity. I even tried to flirt with him and share his cheese and crackers but no dice. I think maybe he was playing hard to get. Next time...

Anyway, the great thing was that Trey saved the letter and he brought it over as soon as he figured it out. So Kelly was able to feed me the cherry treat in person! YUM!

Elsa's House

I met a new friend last week. Her name is Elsa. We had so much fun running around her house, and she has such a cool back yard! I even figured out how to jump over her fence. Tom and Miri didn't like that trick too much though.

We also look the same, as you can see (I'm the one with my tongue out). I got so excited at one point that I peed in her house. Sometimes you just have to let loose. We also have our differences, tho....Elsa licks pretty much everyone in sight (which I find a little presumptuous...I am very discriminating in who I lick and when). Also, Elsa wags her tail so hard it turns into a whole body wag! She is fun. I hope I get to see her soon!
